Rossi is in the lead!
It looks like Valentino is on his way to another season championship! The Italian is in the lead of the MOTO GP series by 9 points with team mate Lorenzo in second. Third spot is held by Casey Stoner of the Ducati factory team and Pedrosa is a distant forth spot trailing by big margin. Will Valentino succeed in another championship season? Bridgestone motorcycle tires are being run by every one for the whole season so it is up to the riders and machines to make the difference! At the half way point in the schedule it is to early for making a good guess. Whatever happens it will be some great racing action to the end!

Here is a shot of one of the electric rides!
This is a photo of an all electric motorcycle that was ran at the Isle of Man and may be ridden in the new series coming through FIM. As you can see it utilizes standard looking motorcycle tires and the bike is relatively compact. I don't have any performance numbers or stats but it looks slick and I would love to try one! This one is made in the U.K. and called the EVO. I believe the front fork or shock is a little unconcventional along with the single sided swing arm in the back. The bike looks sick and I hope they make it state side soon!

Catch the latest motorcycle racing...........
FIM announced this week that they are sponsoring a racing series featuring electric motorcycles!! The bikes were ran at this years Isle of Mann race and did well enough to garner support for a full season. Coming for 2010 you will see but not here the race bikes flying by with only the sound of the wind splitting before the rider and some tire noise to assault your ears! This is gonna be the bomb! I have to believe that we will start to seem more and more street legal electric motorcycles soon that can go a little bit more than 35 mph like a scooter!!

What a way to kick off the season we are having a beautiful summer start and lets try and push the miles to the limit this year! Looking to get a good trip out West some time this year maybe around Labor day if possible. Any time would be good though even if its a short hour trip to the nearest twisty section of road!!! Enjoy the hell out of some road time.

Got em !!
The new BT-021 tires came for the bike today!! They look tight and I really think they are gonna be a great tire for running this summer on those hot days when most softer compounds wear down just by looking at them!! Mototiresonline.com
got them to me in only four days which was great. Even better was the free shipping so that I did not have to worry about how much it was going to cost getting to my door! Now I just have to finish off the old ones and get those rims off the bike to have these swapped out! I can't wait to ride em and see how they feel. The front tire profile looks a taller than my old Qualifier! Could just be the fact that there is tread left on the new motorcycle tires!

Summer is just about here......
Absolutely beautiful today and I couldn't stop thinking it was summer time! Only about three weeks to go and it should be sweet! Fathers day actually falls on the first day of summer this year which is the something I don't remember ever happening before. Bird Creek car show is usually the same day as fathers day so Pa and I will probably go and take a stroll down by the creek and see what one is worth taking home. Last year I think it was either the Boss 302 mustang or the 32 Ford with a 8-71 blower sitting pretty on a small block chevy! I am sure there will be a few new 2009 Camaros there as well. The V6 seems to be my favorite so far. Just don't really like the slot opening in the front above the grill yet on the V8 models. Maybe it will grow on me though. Here is to fast cars, good times, and burning rubber!!

Getting new motorcycle tires for the gixxer!
Got my order in for a new pair of skins to shod the 600 with. Was going to get a set of BT016 for the bike but wound up with a pair of BT021's. They should last longer and I will be doing a lot of commuting on the bike this year so it is probably better off to have the harder compound tires and keep the pesky flat spot from occurring so quickly again and again!
Not sure how long the new tires will last but I would make them a lot longer if I find a spare set of rims to go on it for taking it to the track or just for those days and trips when you know you'll be hitting the twisties hard core! A good spare rims set might be a few hundred but would sure speed up the maintenance aspect when changing tires!

The sun is shinning and the road is getting dry!
Looking tight outside right now! After the last few days of crud and slog the air is warming and all the goodness is showing through. Ahh ah the sun finally, taking the gixxer on tour and may get lost for all the rest of Tuesday! Would be nice to take the Buell 1125r for a ride again. Test drove one on Sunday at Road America. It was sweet! Still love my GSXR but that Buell had tourque in spades. That is one nice thing about the V-twin models they have. You can really pull some wheelies! It handled pretty darn good too, comparable to my 600. Not exact but it was close.

No Mar Monday,,,
Did get to experience the No Mar tire changer over at Road America yesterday as well. It is a good system. More elbow grease than most other tire changers on the market but for the price and keeping rims in good shape I'd say it is the best one out there! A really innovative set up that when used properly will NOT screw with the finish on rims. They also had some cool tire repair stuff as well. I personally have the Stop & Go tire repair kit in the back of my bike which I go from mototiresonline.com. They had the plugger kit which pushes a soft rubber mushroom shaped plug into a puncture on motorcycle or auto tires and looks like it would seal really well. Would still replace a punctured and repaired tire but hey it would probably get you where you need to go and keep you from having to leave the bike or vehicle sitting wherever for who knows how long!! The kits even come in well made pouch to keep things organized and fit into tight places easily for storage.
This is a pic of the kit I run with JUST IN CASE.

Sunday Sunday Sunday
Was a great race at Road America! Was totally wrong about the wet! Mladin won on Saturday in the rain and Pegram on the Part Unlimited Ducati took the number one spot on the podium today. It was a fight right to the finish with him swapping leads with Mladin the whole race. None of this taking off and grabbing the checkered with half a minute to spare! Pretty tight racing to be sure and I was glad not to have missed it!!!
Here is a shot of the start of the Super Sport race right at the begining, they did pretty good with nary a drop of rain all day! There was even a little bit of sunshine to boot!

Making that list and checking it twice!
Going to start packing some items for the race and I am going to go minimalist on it just bringing the essentials like beer, and beer and maybe some beer! No just foolin I wouldn't bring beer unless it had a ticket too or was buying mine for me! The track at Elkhart really has a great setup for all that so you don't have to bring everything under the sun along. Its just that the sun better come along at least for a minute here and there to brighten the day up a little!!
I bet the Ducati team makes a good show of it in the wet. Will be an interesting set up. Have not seen any of the later model 1098 series running in anger on the ashphalt. Ducs always shine in the wet and tommorow may be no different!

Summer is almost here!
The weather is really starting to turn up and I am ecstatic to do some damage to the sides of my Dunlop's. Road America's AMA weekend is coming up and I think it will be a good show. Going to try and take the gixxer even though it sounds a lot like rain who cares. You only get so many chances and I am gonna take them!!!!!!! Gonna post some of the best pics here if I can get there and take some shots of bikes running the track! Looks like a wet race, those are the best! Saw Ben Bostrom walk the entire field of superbikes on an ancient ZX7 when most everyone else and their ma had liter bikes. He won by a landslide, or was it waterslide?
